In September 2006, the staff and elders commissioned a Building Committee to assess the long-term needs of our ministry, including a review of our master site plan, children’s ministry, and the on-campus needs of our Community Groups. The Committee is comprised of selected staff, elders, and building industry professionals from our congregation.

The Committee interviewed a number of architectural firms from Dallas and Fort Worth. At the end of a thorough process, they recommended that the elders hire Beck, an industry leader, to show us the way architecturally.

Beginning with an architectural “charette” (brainstorming session), Beck led the Building Committee and the elders through a detailed evaluation of our needs. The findings from that session provided a critical path that led us to our current plans.

Unity has characterized the workings of the Building Committee. One member who works for a company that builds churches across America said, “I’ve worked with very few committees that have such a sensitive spirit to one another, and to the Holy Spirit’s direction.”
